Brian Mathews warns charges against complacency in remaining KHF matches

The top four teams at the conclusion of the regular league qualify for the Super Cup.

National Cereals and Produce Board (NCPB) women's side got back to the Kenya Handball Federation (KHF) league action with a resounding 57-07 victory against New Hope but coach Brian Mathews is preaching caution.

The millers have played 14 matches for 12 wins and are fighting to dethrone the ever-green Nairobi Water Queens, a tall order by anyone's admission.

However, the tactician says they are taking the remaining matches, one at a time to avoid a situation where they are complacent and get punished.

"We had the players work individually during the break as the bench monitored progress and we can see that they are all in a good place.

We are not underestimating any opponent. We are treating every team and match the same and keeping the same fight.

Our first match after the break was a good place to test that and I am happy with the performance. There was no individuality, everyone was a team player," offered Mathews.

The tactician says they are looking to compete with the top four teams as all eyes are on NCPB to try and challenge for the trophy.

This weekend's win moves the millers to third on 24 points, tied with second-placed Ulinzi Sharks who have a superior goal difference. Nairobi Water Queens are the only unbeaten side after 15 matches for 30 points.

Kimilili-based Rangers Women are fourth on 23 points, a position that if maintained will qualify them for their first ever Super Cup.

Net Navigators complete the top five places after 15 matches with 22 points from 11 wins.
